25 July 2006Appointment of DirectorThe Board of Directors of Countrywide plc confirms today that Mr Harry Hill,Group Managing Director, will take over the role of Chairman of the Companywhen the current Chairman, Mr Christopher Sporborg, retires at the end of theyear.Mr Grenville Turner, formerly Head of Intermediary Sales at HBOS Retail andChief Executive of Intelligent Finance and a former director of Rightmove, hasagreed to join the Board on 1 August 2006 as an executive Director of theCompany. He will take over Mr Hill's role as Group Managing Director on 1January 2007. In the meantime, he will work alongside Mr Hill and other membersof the executive team in order to assist him in settling into his new role atCountrywide plc and to ensure a smooth transition of executive managementresponsibility.Christopher Sporborg commented:"In his 17 years as Group Managing Director, Harry Hill has already helped tomake the Countrywide group the UK's largest and most successful estate agencyand retail financial services group.
