European Motor Hldgs PLC01 June 2005 EUROPEAN MOTOR HOLDINGS plc ("the Company") PROPOSED APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR As previously reported, the Company does not currently have two independent nonexecutive directors as required by the revised Combined Code on CorporateGovernance. The Board stated in its Corporate Governance report in theCompany's Report and Financial Statements for the year ended 28 February 2005that it was engaged in an exercise to identify and appoint a second independentnon executive director. European Motor Holdings plc is now delighted to announce that it will appoint MrDavid Beck FCCA as a non executive director immediately following the conclusionof the Company's Annual General Meeting on 17 June 2005. Mr Beck will serve onthe Board's Audit and Remuneration Committees and his appointment will nowenable the Board to form a Nominations Committee which complies with theCombined Code. Mr Beck, 60, a Certified Accountant, held senior management positions at BritishLeyland, Lex Service group plc (where he was managing director of the Lex RetailGroup) and, latterly, at Quicks Group plc, where he held both executive and nonexecutive director roles prior to that company's acquisition by C D Bramall plcin May 2002. Since 1995 Mr Beck has been acting as an independent consultant, specialising ininternational automotive distribution and during that period has taken on nonexecutive directorships or long term adviser roles with several major Europeanmotor groups. The Board are confident that Mr Beck's extensive commercial and financialexperience at senior management level will be of considerable benefit to theCompany in his role as an independent non executive director. There are no further disclosures to be made pursuant to rule 16.4 of the ListingRules as to the appointment of Mr Beck.
