Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC11 June 2007 Appointment of Chief Operating Officer Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc, a world leader in the industrial steam-using andperistaltic pumping markets, is pleased to announce the appointment of MarkVernon (54) to the newly established position of Chief Operating Officerreporting to the Chief Executive, Marcus Steel, with effect from 12th June 2007. Mark will be responsible for the day to day delivery of the Group's operatingresults. As such, the operating management of the Spirax Sarco and Watson-MarlowBredel businesses will report to him. He will relocate to the UK as a result ofthis appointment and will continue with his existing responsibilities. This appointment will allow Marcus to spend more time on medium and longer termissues. Mark joined the Group in May 2003 as President of Spirax Sarco Inc. in the USAand took that business forward very successfully. He then came onto the Board ofSpirax-Sarco Engineering plc in July 2006 with responsibility for the operationsin the Americas and for Group Marketing. Prior to joining Spirax, Mark built upa broad experience in the valve and process control industry throughout theworld with Valtek and its subsequent parents, Durco and Flowserve.
