Meridian Petroleum PLC12 November 2007 12 November 2007 Meridian Petroleum plc ("Meridian" or "the Company") Appointment of Chief Operating Officer Meridian Petroleum (AIM: MRP) announces the appointment of Edward L Childers asthe Company's Chief Operating Officer, effective 1st December 2007. Mr Childers is an engineer with over 30 years experience in the oil and gasindustry, most of it in the US. He began his career managing drilling andproduction operations for Texas Oil & Gas Corporation in East Texas and alongthe Gulf Coast. Subsequently he worked in senior roles for a number ofcompanies, large and small, with responsibility for extensive drilling,completion and production programmes and for acquisitions, capital budgets andcost controls. He has also worked in Europe, Algeria and West Africa andrecently has been directing the Okoro field development for Afren plc inNigeria. He has extensive experience of the geology, engineering and infrastructure inthe areas where Meridian operates, in particular, Louisiana, where the CalvinField is located. He will be based at the Company's offices in Houston, Texas,but has a family home in Michigan, located near the Company's Orion and Milfordfields.
