Appointment of Chairman

Matra Petroleum ("Matra") is delighted to announce the appointment of Bill Guest as non-Executive Chairman. Bill succeeds the late Sir Michael Jenkins.

Bill has over 37 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. Trained as a geologist and petroleum engineer, Bill spent his early career with Shell International before joining Monument Oil and Gas in 1989, spending 10 years as Technical Director and latterly Business Development Director before the company was sold in 1999. Since that time, Bill has held a number of executive and non-executive board positions within the energy sector as well as providing upstream advisory support to a range of international oil companies through Guest & Associates. He has been a non-executive director of Matra since 2010 and is currently also on the boards of Sacoil Holdings and British European Energy.

The Company has also resolved to formalise membership of the remuneration and nomination committees. Matthias Brandl has been appointed as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee, and Bill Guest has been appointed as Chairman of the Nominations Committee.

Commenting on Mr Guest's appointment, Chief Executive of Matra Maxim Barskiy said: "We are fortunate to be able to call upon the experience of Bill Guest as Chairman of Matra.
