Appointment of Adviser

 

All Asia Asset Capital (AIM: AAA), an investment company focused on investing in the growing markets of Southeast Asia, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ambassador Kobsak Chutikul as an adviser to the Company with immediate effect. Under the term of his appointment, Ambassador Kobsak will provide consultancy advice and take part in sourcing and negotiating investment opportunities for the Company.

 

A retired ambassador and former member of the parliament of Thailand, Ambassador Kobsak Chutikul last served as Special Adviser to the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and to the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva from 1995 to 2012.

 

Born in 1950he received his Bachelor's degree at the Australian National University in Canberra and completed his Master's and Ph.D at the Johns Hopkins University and Southeastern University in the United States.

 

Before resigning from the Foreign Ministry of Thailand to run for parliament as deputy leader of the then Chat Thai Party in 2000, Ambassador Kobsak had diplomatic postings in Washington, D.C. and the Thai Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York before becoming deputy Director-General of the Political Affairs Department, and then ambassador to the Czech and Slovak republics in 1990. He also later served successively as Director-General of the Foreign Ministry's ASEAN Affairs Department, Economic Affairs Department, and Information Department (Foreign Ministry Spokesman).

 

As a member of Thailand's parliament from 2001 to 2003, Ambassador Kobsak was Vice-Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee as well as Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister.

 

He is a Board Member of the ASEAN and Asia Studies Centre of the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) and a Board Member of the John F. Kennedy Foundation of Thailand.

 

Ambassador Kobsak is currently the Secretary-General of the Asian Peace and Reconciliation Council (APRC), an international organisation comprising former national leaders such as Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Badawi of Malaysia, President Ramos-Horta of Timor Leste, President Ricardo Lagos Escobar of Chile, President Aleksander Kwasniewski of Poland, Prime Minister Romano Prodi of Italy, Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha of India, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing of China, as well as academics such as Professor David Kennedy, Director of the Institute for Global Law and Policy of the Harvard Law School. The APRC seeks to foster greater understanding and the amelioration of regional conflict and potential crisis situations through quiet diplomacy and intervention. 

 

Ambassador Kobsak is a recipient of the Knight Grand Cordon (Special Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant of the Kingdom of Thailand.
