Kesa Electricals appoints a non-executive director

Kesa Electricals plc today announces that it has appointed Alan Parker as a non-executive director.

Alan Parker is currently Chief Executive of Whitbread PLC and is retiring from Whitbread in November 2010. He joined Whitbread in 1992 as Managing Director of Whitbread Hotel Company. He became a Board member at Whitbread in May 2000, and was appointed Chief Executive in 2004.

Prior to this he worked for Bass and in 1985 was Managing Director of Crest Hotels Europe, based in Frankfurt, and in 1987 became Senior Vice-President of Holiday Inn Europe, Middle East and Africa, based in Brussels.

Chairman David Newlands said: "I am delighted that we have attracted someone of Alan's calibre to the Board. He has spent his entire career in consumer facing services businesses in Europe and under his leadership Whitbread has grown to become the UK's leading hospitality company."

Alan Parker joins the Board with immediate effect and will sit on the Audit, Remuneration and Nomination Committees.
