Lonrho PLC28 February 2008 28th February 2008 LONRHO PLC ("Lonrho" or the "Company") LONRHO RECRUITS GENERAL MANAGER TO EXPAND PORT AND SHIPPING DIVISION Lonrho Plc ("Lonrho" or "the Company") (AIM: LONR) today announces that it hasrecruited a senior executive, Peter Albeck, as General Manager of Lonrho's Portand Shipping Division. Peter Albeck joins the Company from Safmarine, where he was Chief CommercialOfficer of the MPV Division from 2002. Safmarine is recognised as one of theworld's leading shipping companies and the industry's leading specialist inAfrica trade. He brings forty years of experience in the port and shippingindustry across Africa and the North / South shipping lanes Lonrho views the port and shipping industry in Africa as a strategic industrysector, and is focused on building the Company's current businesses, whichincludes SA Independent Liner Services Pty Ltd (SAILS) in South Africa and theLonrho oil services port, Luba Freeport, in Equatorial Guinea. Peter's role willbe to expand Lonrho's current operations and to deliver new opportunities asappropriate to the Lonrho Board. SAILS (SA Liners) is a South Africa based container shipping line, with anoperating fleet of 6 vessels. The main container service is to exporters andimporters on the Europe, West African and South African trade routes. Lonrho oil services port - Luba Freeport Luba Freeport acts as a logistics centre for the burgeoning oil and gasindustries in the Gulf of Guinea and services major oil companies in the region.
