APN ANNOUNCES CEO CONTRACT EXTENSION AND
SENIOR MANAGEMENT CHANGES

APN News & Media Limited (APN) in which Independent News & Media PLC has a 39.1% shareholding made the following announcement.
SYDNEY, October 23, 2008 - APN News & Media Limited [ASX,NZX:APN] today announced the
extension of the contract of its Chief Executive, Mr Brendan Hopkins, for a further three years from April 2009 when his current contract expires. The existing terms will remain unchanged.
Mr Martin Simons, currently Chief Executive Officer of New Zealand Publishing, is appointed to the newly formed position of Group Publishing Chief Executive and will assume responsibility for all of APN's Publishing operations.
Mr Richard Herring, currently Chief Executive Officer of Outdoor, is appointed to the newly formed position of Group Radio and Outdoor Chief Executive and assumes responsibility for all of APN's Radio and Outdoor operations.
The positions of Peter Myers (Chief Financial Officer), Warren Lee (CEO Online) and Rob Lourey (Human Resources Director) remain unchanged.
All five Executives will constitute the Chief Executive's Executive Committee. Mr Gavin O'Reilly, Chairman of APN, said: "The Board is very pleased that Brendan has agreed to extend his term with APN. Brendan has also today further strengthened his senior team and I congratulate Martin
and Richard on their new expanded roles."
