Amiad expands in Africa with drinking waterproject in Angola

Amiad (AIM: AFS), a leading global producer of water treatment and filtration solutions, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract, worth approximately $1.1 million, by Mitrelli Group ("Mitrelli"), a global organisation focused on the design, implementation and execution of large-scale turnkey projects, for the supply and installation of water filtration systems for the provision of drinking water in the Angolan province of Moxico as part of Mitrelli's 'Water for All' project.

Under the terms of agreement, Amiad will install and commission 50 filtration systems in 2014 that will be at the core of the water treatment and filtration solution to pump water from the local river to supply clean water to the villages in Moxico and Kuanza Sul. The project is aimed at reducing water-borne diseases among the local population and enable water to be accessed at various points within the village rather than being collected, and physically carried, from a distant water source. The system, which will be solar-powered and will utilize minimal use of chemicals, is designed to require minimal ongoing maintenance thereby overcoming the lack of local infrastructure.
