Wincanton PLC20 July 2006 For immediate release 20 July 2006 Wincanton plc AGM Statement David Malpas, Chairman of Wincanton plc ("Wincanton") will make the followingcomments at the AGM later today: "Wincanton reported a strong performance in the year to 31 March 2006, buildingfurther on its consistent record of profit improvement, cash flow generation anddividend growth. The high levels of new business activity that delivered this performance havebeen sustained in the first quarter of the new financial year. We are encouragedby the progress being made in the current year. Our development pipeline in the UK & Ireland remains strong. Another contractwin with Argos, for example, adds the inbound management of container traffic toour existing operations for this fast-growing customer. Our business withSainsbury also continues to expand, supporting both larger stores and theirconvenience network. Contract wins and successful renewals are again being seenacross all areas of our business. The UK & Ireland remain growth markets forWincanton. In Continental Europe, we are confident that the progress being made this yearwill improve profitability from these operations. In France, for example, arecent contract win to build and operate a new distribution centre forKronenbourg in Strasbourg confirms that our enlarged business is developingencouraging momentum. Contract gains in Germany are generating incrementalvolume for our network, and our new business teams remain very active in Centraland Eastern Europe. There is substantial potential for further organic growth within our portfolio.We also continue to review opportunities to accelerate our growth throughacquisition. Our markets, as always, remain challenging and competitive, but all currentindications give cause for confidence that the year to 31 March 2007 will beanother period of progress for Wincanton."
