Greene King PLC02 September 2005 2 September 2005 GREENE KING PLC AGM trading statement The following trading update was contained in last week's announcement and offerdocument in relation to our recommended offer for The Belhaven Group plc. "Trading performance for the 12 week period to 24 July 2005 has been positiveand in line with expectations. Total like-for-like sales in Pub Company were up 1.2 per cent (2.6 per centexcluding the "Euro 2004 effect") and total like-for-like turnover in PubPartners was up 3.6 per cent. Own brewed beer volumes increased by 6 per centand Greene King IPA continued its positive momentum, increasing by 8 per centwhilst Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale increased by 12 per cent and 3 per centrespectively. Sales were strong, reflecting the quality of the Greene King business, andmargins have remained robust in each of the three trading divisions. The acquisition of Ridley's was completed by Greene King on 4 July 2005 and theintegration process has been progressing well." Offer for The Belhaven Group plc The offer document in relation to our recommended cash offer for The BelhavenGroup plc was posted on 24 August 2005. The first closing date in relation tothe offer is 15 September 2005. A further announcement will be made around thattime. Share split At the AGM to be held today, shareholders will be voting in relation to aproposed 2:1 share split which, if approved, will become effective on Monday 5September.
