AGM Statement

11th May 2006 12:17

British Polythene Industries PLC11 May 2006 11 May 2006 BRITISH POLYTHENE INDUSTRIES PLC AGM STATEMENT At today's Annual General Meeting of British Polythene Industries PLC, CameronMcLatchie, Chairman, made the following statement: "As we indicated in our Preliminary Statement on 6 March, we have seen a goodstart to the year. Our margins have held up well, but we continue to haveconcerns on volumes from certain sectors, particularly horticulture andconstruction. Despite the cooler spring weather causing a slower start to the agriculturalseason, we still anticipate increased sales this year in the growing market forbale-wrap stretchfilms. As we predicted in March, polymer prices have remained firm and now look to gofirmer yet in May and June, based on rising feedstock costs to our suppliers. The scenario of rising input costs and below normal demand will make it unlikelythat we will exceed the first half results of last year. However, in thecircumstances, we still expect a good outcome for the first half."
