easyJet PLC24 February 2005 NOT FOR DISTIBUTION UNTIL: 10.00 Thursday 24 February 2005 Speaking at the easyJet Annual General Meeting today in Luton, Sir ColinChandler, Chairman, said: "I am pleased to report to shareholders that easyJet's business continues toperform solidly. "Our figures for the first quarter, as reported on 7 February 2005, showed totalrevenue per passenger broadly in line with last year, with 26% more passengerscarried. To date the second quarter is performing positively and in line withour expectations; part of the positive performance will be due to the timing ofEaster. However, there are still challenges ahead and much remains to beachieved. "Making predictions in this business is no easy task and, as with ourcompetitors, visibility remains limited. We can safely say that competition willcontinue from low cost carriers and from the established airlines. Volatility inthe price of fuel is inevitable as well. These challenges are being met byconstant attention to cost efficiencies by the management team and continuedemphasis on increasing revenue from all sources available to us. "The increasing scale of easyJet gives us resilience and the capability toleverage our size with suppliers and for the benefit of our customers. Thesuccessful management of our scale in an expanding European market is the key tothe continuous enhancement of our business performance which will provide longterm benefits for all of our stakeholders. The staff of easyJet are committed tothe sustained improvement in our performance which is essential for our futureand their achievements to date give me confidence of our ability to succeed."
