Autoclenz Holdings Plc
("Autoclenz" or "the Company")
At today's Annual General Meeting (19th May 2011), Chairman, James Leek will make the following statement:
Automotive Services
"Our Automotive business has traded in line with our internal budget expectations during the first four months of the financial year, although automotive retailing still remains challenging - new car sales are approximately 8% down on the previous year and used car volumes and prices are volatile as is to be expected during a consumer recession.
We are pleased to announce however that we have successfully renewed our contracts with two of our major customers, one being in the Auction sector (a new three-year contract) and the other within our Pinnacle Division in the prestige market (a new two-year contract) - the latter being both a successful renegotiation of the contract and an extension to additional dealerships in the Midlands and North.
Our Northern Movements business, which was a problem to us throughout 2010, has now returned to profit and has contributed positively in the early months of 2011.
As previously reported, the Collection & Delivery Service we are providing to Kwikfit is building with the proposed geographic launches phased into the first four months of this year; with these complete, Phase 2 is programmed to start after a settling in period.
React Specialist Cleaning
The management changes made to this part of the business late in 2010 are beginning to have a positive effect on the Rapid Response side of our business and we are seeing early signs of growth despite the spending cuts.
Our newly formed Property Services business is growing sales, which from a standing start is very encouraging and this includes, having secured business with some of the UK's major Facilities Management Service Providers.
The Supreme Court Case
The case of Autoclenz v. Belcher was heard by the Supreme Court last week (May 11th & 12th 2011). As yet, the judgment has not been handed down, but once the Ruling has been issued we will provide a further statement accordingly.
The Company has defended its position throughout this whole process and believes it would be inappropriate for us to make any further comment at this time, however, as we have previously stated we have been making appropriate and reasonable provisions within our Accounts to cover anticipated costs relating to this case, which we believe to be a prudent measure and in no way reflects our view of the possible outcome of the case.
Overall, generally our performance is in line with our internal targets despite the recessionary trading conditions which affect both sectors of our business."
