Advisory Board Appointment - Juan Villalonga
Phorm (AIM: PHRM and PHRX), the internet personalisation technology company, is pleased to announce the creation of an Advisory Board whose mandate will be to advise the board and management team on major aspects of the Company's business, in particular the adoption and deployment of the Company's technology with ISPs around the world.
The Company is also delighted to announce the appointment of Juan Villalonga as Chairman of the Company's Advisory Board. Further appointments will be made in due course.
As CEO of Telefónica S.A. from 1996-2000, Mr Villalonga oversaw an increase in the company's market capitalisation of $127 billion, in the process turning Telefónica into one of the top three telecommunications companies in the world.
Kent Ertugrul, Phorm's CEO said, "Juan Villalonga is a giant of the Telecommunications industry and we are delighted to welcome someone of his stature as Chairman of our Advisory Board. Following our successful launch in Brazil we have seen a significant increase in the level of interest from ISPs around the world and we look forward to working with Mr Villalonga to help us exploit these opportunities as we move to the next stage in our development."
Juan Villalonga has held a number of prominent positions in his career. In addition to his position within Telefónica S.A., he was a partner at McKinsey & Company (1980-1989), CEO for Credit Suisse First Boston in Spain (1993-1994), and CEO of Bankers' Trust in Spain (1995-1996). In 2010, Harvard Business Review named Mr. Villalonga one of the world's 100 best performing CEOs.
Juan Villalonga commented, "I am deeply impressed by the Company's team and technology. I believe that Phorm's proposition to consumers and the industry alike reflects the next stage in the evolution of the internet. By offering consumers an explicit choice and protecting the privacy of participants to an unprecedented degree, Phorm has managed to address one of the industry's big problems and provide a business model to support the next generation of internet services."
