Acta S.p.A.
("Acta" or "the Company")
Acta at Goodwood Festival of Speed
exhibiting hydrogen fuel enrichment system
Acta S.p.A (AIM:ACTA), the clean energy products company, is delighted to announce that it will be exhibiting in the 'FoS-TECH' (green motoring) pavilion at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from 2-4 July 2010. The Company will be showing their ground-breaking hydrogen fuel enrichment system which independent tests have proven to significantly increase fuel efficiency in diesel engines, as well as dramatically reducing particulate matter and other harmful emissions.
The system is based on Acta's award-winning, low-cost electrolyser technology which produces pure, dry hydrogen on demand. The hydrogen is injected into the air intake of the vehicle engine, resulting in a more complete combustion of the diesel fuel. In the most efficient Euro 5 standard trucks available today, net fuel savings have been independently measured at 17%, which the Company estimates could produce a cost saving of approximately €6000 per annum for a typical long distance HGV.
Acta will be demonstrating this technology, installed on a light van engine, in the FoS-TECH pavilion alongside major manufacturers including Lexus, Audi, Mercedes and Toyota.
Paolo Bert, CEO of Acta, commented: "We are delighted to be able to exhibit our technology at this prestigious event. This year has witnessed the commercialisation of a product which has taken years of hard work and innovation to complete. Now we are demonstrating that a renewable energy world is viable through the numerous applications of our electrolyser technology. The FoS-TECH pavilion is a fantastic platform at which to showcase new and green technologies. We are privileged to have been chosen for this exclusive event and look forward to meeting potential strategic and commercial partners. We are confident that manufacturers and consumers alike will be as excited by our technology as we are."

About Acta S.p.A.
Acta S.p.A. is a developer and provider of a broad range of renewable energy and related products. Its product line includes a range of compact hydrogen generators as well as various portable, mobile and backup fuel cell devices that can make use of locally generated hydrogen in UPS, marine, automotive, electric cycling, scooter, camping and domestic applications. The Company's broader interests include a range of environmental catalysts and solar power projects.
Acta's cost-competitive products are based on its proprietary, inexpensive environmental catalyst and hydrogen conversion technologies. These products help overcome the barriers to the adoption of fuel cells, most notably the lack of a local hydrogen infrastructure.
Acta's low-cost hydrogen generators represent a unique breakthrough in electrolyser technology. They can operate using mains power or intermittent renewable energy, and produce clean, dry hydrogen already at pressure for use in fuel cell and other industrial and consumer applications. This unique combination of features avoids the system complexity and energy cost of further cleaning, drying and compression of the hydrogen, resulting in a simple, compact, low-cost and highly efficient system that is ideally suited for energy conversion and storage applications. In such applications, which include battery replacement and renewable energy storage, low cost and high efficiency are critical to commercial viability, while hydrogen compression is essential for the energy density of the system. No other water electrolyser currently on the market offers this combination of benefits.
Acta is focusing on delivering its products to markets with high volume demand for high-value environmental solutions (transport, UPS, energy and leisure). It is accelerating the commercialisation of its products via partnerships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), distributors, and agents in these sectors, and intends to drive down production costs at high volume via contract manufacturing.
Acta is marketing its product range to early adopters through its energy products division, Acta Energy. This division's objective is to ensure, through facilitating the widespread adoption of commercial and domestic fuel cell products, that Acta's hydrogen generator becomes a familiar industrial and domestic appliance.
Acta S.p.A. was admitted to trading on AIM in October 2005. It is based near Pisa, Italy, from where it manages a growing overseas distributor network targeting a global fuel cell market estimated to be worth US$26 billion by 2020.
Goodwood Festival of Speed, 2-4 July 2010
The Festival of Speed is the largest motoring garden party in the world - a unique summer weekend that brings together an impossibly heady mix of cars, stars and motor sport 'royalty' to create the largest car culture event in the world. Held in the immaculate grounds of Goodwood House, this climb event is a true celebration of motor sport and all things automotive.
From current Formula 1 racers and 200mph supercars to steam-powered carriages of the 19th Century, and from 3000bhp top fuel dragsters to classic rally cars, the Festival of Speed attracts the heroic and the evocative from every era in an exuberant display of style, sound, smell and colour.
In 2009 it welcomed in excess of 150,000 enthusiastic visitors, as well as 650 members of the international media, representing over 200 publications, nine radio stations and 17 television companies from 28 different countries.
Goodwood Technology Pavilion, FoS-TECH
The Technology Pavilion showcases a variety of exciting new technologies from motor manufacturers, design specialists and other motor industry suppliers. All exhibits in the Technology Pavilion will be visually and intellectually stimulating, with cutting-edge ideas and concepts on display, many of which will never have been seen in public before. These exhibits will range from concept cars incorporating the very latest automotive thinking, to alternative fuels and future personal transport solutions.
