AMEC PLC08 April 2008 AMEC plc 8 April 2008 AMEC acquires US environmental and geotechnical mining consultancy AMEC plc, the international engineering and project management company,announces today that it has acquired the assets of Smith Williams Consultants,Inc. (SWC) from its owner-managers for 3.1 million (US$6.3 million) in cash. SWC is a 36-person engineering firm with a focus in the area of geotechnicalconsulting serving the US mining sector. The firm is based in Denver, Colorado,with a satellite office in Elko, Nevada. The acquisition is consistent with AMEC's strategy of geographic and capacityexpansion in the Earth and Environmental business and will provide additionalexpertise, particularly in the western United States.
