Acquisition of new PathFinderRF Product IPR
Avia (AIM: AVIA), the AIM-listed developer and provider of clinical decision support systems, is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary Plain Healthcare Ltd ("Plain") has signed a contract with Nene Commissioning Group ("Nene") in Northamptonshire to acquire the intellectual property rights to sell and manage future development of their PathFinder product.
Nene is an award-winning and pioneering Commissioning Group within the NHS who have developed PathFinder to its current state to provide an innovative on-line referral facilitation and clinical communication system. Nene has already successfully rolled the system out across Northamptonshire. Plain will further develop and market the product, branded as PathFinderRF.
PathFinderRF enables NHS Commissioning Groups and other Primary Care Organisations to manage referrals from GP surgeries to specialist and community services for further treatment.
Consideration for the acquired IPR will be paid solely in the form of sales royalties on the licences to use the PathFinderRF product, on a decreasing sliding scale over a five year period. Avia will fund the limited continued development cost of the product.
PathFinderRF is already an established product and has proven value within the NHS to assist health organisations deliver improvements in quality, together with cost savings by streamlining the referral process. With the financial and other pressures currently being put on the NHS, Plain believes this is one of the key reasons Commissioners will see its advantages and be persuaded to buy the product.
With the existing Odyssey clinical decision support systems and now PathFinderRF, Avia and Plain can now offer NHS organisations across the UK & Ireland various clinical 'end-to-end' solutions to help improve the efficiency of their services. The product range now spans initial self-assessment using Odyssey SelfAssess, assessment by the clinician using PatientAssess and the referral by the clinician to general or specialist care using PathFinderRF.
