United Business Media buys Aviation Industry Group Ltd Strengthens Commonwealth Business Media's events portfolio for aviation intelligence market
United Business Media plc announces today that its Commonwealth Business Media division has acquired the UK-based Aviation Industry Group Ltd (AIG) for an initial cash consideration of ‚£6m, with a further consideration of up to ‚£1m being payable, depending on certain conditions being met.
AIG organises 21 annual exhibitions and conferences for the aviation industry, supported by three print titles and associated online platforms. The exhibitions are held in the UK, with the conferences taking place across the United States, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe. Approximately 60% of AIG's ‚£3m total revenues are generated from trade shows and conferences.
The acquisition will both extend Commonwealth Business Media's geographical reach and enhance its product portfolio for the aviation industry which includes BACK Aviation Solutions and the OAG business acquired in December 2006.
The acquisition is anticipated to meet UBM's 8% post-tax cost of capital criterion in its first year of ownership.
