AMEC PLC03 April 2007 3 April 2007 AMEC acquisition expands UK environmental consultancy AMEC plc, the international project management and services company, announcesthe acquisition of UK environmental consultancy Applied Environmental ResearchCentre ("AERC"). This acquisition is in line with AMEC's strategy of expanding its corebusinesses through acquisitions that bring complementary skills and/orgeographic expansion in markets which AMEC believes offer good growthopportunities. AERC is a specialist consultancy based in Colchester, Essex providing a widerange of environmental science, planning, engineering and monitoring servicesfor clients in the public and private sectors. AERC employs 45 scientists and engineers and generated revenues of £2.3 million in the year ended 31 December2006. Its net assets were £0.6 million as at 31 December 2006. AERC will join AMEC's Earth and Environmental division, which employs some 3,000environmental scientists across a network of more than 100 locations, mainlyacross the USA and Canada, but including the UK, Germany, Iraq and Afghanistan.
