GKN plc: Acquisition by joint venture
15 September 2010
GKN's joint venture Emitec Gesellschaft f¼r Emissionstechnologie mbH (Emitec) acquires Grundfos NoNOx Holding A/S (NoNOx) from Grundfos Holding A/S (Grundfos).
GKN announces that its Emitec joint venture, equally owned with Continental AG, which manufactures metallic substrates for catalytic converters, has completed the acquisition of NoNOx. NoNOx is a leading supplier of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems for diesel engines in trucks and buses, as well as construction and agricultural machinery.
SCR systems significantly reduce the nitrogen oxides content of exhaust emissions, as required by ever stringent emissions targets and legislation around the world, as well as reducing fuel consumption. SCR is the ideal solution for meeting the Euro 5 exhaust gas standard and is currently the only solution that meets the Euro 6 standard.
Emitec is active in the passenger car engine sector with its own compact SCR technology, while NoNOx targets large diesel engines. The two businesses are complimentary in terms of both markets and technology, providing an opportunity for significant growth in Emitec's sales in the coming years.
The business being acquired had gross assets of 17.5 million Euros at 31 December 2009.
