AMEC PLC18 February 2005 18 February 2005 AMEC plc, the international project management and services company, announcesthe acquisition of FAST Maintenance Informatique SA ("FAST"), a French ITmanagement company with net assets of €3.2 million (£2.3 million). The company, which employs 480 people based in Toulouse, Lyon and Paris,generated annual turnover of €25 million (£18 million) in 2004 and has strongcustomer relationships across the aerospace industry and public sectororganisations including government ministries, universities and healthcareinstitutions. The acquisition extends AMEC SPIE's telecommunications business to 2,000employees operating throughout France and strengthens its number two position inthe French telecommunications and IT network services market. It isstrategically positioned to benefit from growth opportunities as customersincrease levels of investment in convergent voice and data technologies. The acquisition furthers AMEC's strategy of expanding its Engineering andTechnical Services network of over 300 locations in Continental Europe andfollows the addition of eight multi-technical businesses in France, theNetherlands, Portugal and Spain during 2004.
