Demand forflat screen televisions remained strong throughout the quarter and sales ofmulti media products were particularly good during the back to school period.Sales of white goods confirmed a return to positive growth. Darty's revenue grew by 11.4 per cent in local currency, 9.6 per cent on a likefor like basis. Darty Box was launched on schedule in the Paris region at theend of October and will be rolled out to the rest of the country by the end ofNovember. In the UK, Comet's revenue grew by 11.6 per cent, up 10.9 per cent on a like forlike basis. Revenue at BUT grew by 4.4 per cent and total store sales grew by 6.4 per centin local currency, 3.0 per cent like for like, against favourable comparatives.BUT continued to benefit from improved performances at its relayed small to midsized stores. Our Other Businesses* continued to deliver strong growth helped by particularlygood performances at BCC and Vanden Borre. Total revenue grew by 22.1 per centin local currency, an increase of 10.2 per cent on a like for like basis. Chief Executive Jean-Noel Labroue commented, "In positive market conditions the Group delivered a good revenue performance,particularly during August and September. Sales were led by continued doubledigit growth of flat screen televisions and very strong demand for multi mediaproducts, particularly laptops, during the back to school period. Despite salesof white goods returning to positive growth, the product margin trends observedin the first half continued. "As always our full year results are dependant on the peak December / Januaryperiod, particularly in the UK. Although consumer confidence is expected toremain robust in the short term, we have seen a slowdown in the rate of growthtowards the end of the quarter."
