Cesky Telecom A.S.26 April 2006 > PRESS RELEASE - 26. 4. 2006> CESKY TELECOM CONNECTS ITS 350,000th BROADBAND INTERNET CUSTOMER Today, CESKY TELECOM connected its 350,000th broadband ADSL customer in theCzech Republic to the Internet. Unprecedented interest has been ongoing sinceFebruary of this year, when an average of around 8,000 customers have beenordering broadband services every week. At the same time, CESKY TELECOM has beencovering an increasing number of localities in the Czech Republic withstate-of-the-art technology for broadband access. To this day, the total is1,407, which is 7% greater than it had been at the beginning of this year. At present, Prague has the highest number of broadband Internet subscribers. Atthe end of April the Czech capital had over 86,000 customers who were surfingthe Internet via broadband connections over fixed lines; this represents roughlyone quarter of all subscribers. The region of Central Bohemia took second placein terms of the number of subscribers (40,504), and was closely followed by theregion of Moravia-Silesia (37,675). The Central Bohemian region has shown the greatest growth over the last fewmonths (132%), followed by the region of Southern Bohemia (131%) and theHighlands (Vysoeina) region (131%). In terms of the number of ADSL subscribers per 100 residents, statistics showthat the greatest broadband Internet penetration is occurring in Prague, wherean average of 7.4 residents per 100 are connected in this manner. In its virtualposition as the winner, the metropolis is followed by the regions of Olomouc(3.74) and Central Bohemia (3.608). Exceeding 350,000 customers means that from the beginning of this year, whenroughly 275,000 citizens had broadband ADSL connections, the customer base hasrisen by 27% (75,000).
