£200 million of sales in 2010 has Peppa Pig as Number One Pre School Toy Property
Entertainment One Ltd. (LSE:ETO), the international entertainment group, is pleased to announce that the UK licensing and merchandising retail sales for Peppa Pig in 2010 achieved a record level of more than £200 million (2009:£150 million).
This success was supported by the continued growth in the sale of toys in 2010 which show that Peppa was the highest selling pre-school toy license in the UK, a position previously held by Thomas the Tank Engine for a number of years.
Along with continued growth in the UK, the popular animated series will make its US debut in February. Entertainment One announced a three year US broadcasting deal for the two time BAFTA award winning pre-school series with leading broadcaster Nick Jr. in November 2010.
Commenting, Darren Throop CEO of Entertainment One, said:
"This performance further supports Peppa Pig's position as one of the most popular pre-school properties in the market today and further highlights the potential for Peppa's expansion into the US. Peppa has had a hugely successful year and we are looking forward to growing our Family division's success through this and other properties, including Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom in the coming year."
The Company will release its Interim Management Statement on 15th February 2011
