(Alliance News) - Zinnwald Lithium PLC on Monday said it has received backing from the German federal government for its lithium project in Germany.
The European focused lithium company, with offices in the UK and Germany, said this builds on the strong support already received from the State of Saxony.
The backing came as Parliamentary State Secretary Stefan Rouenhoff from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection visited the Zinnwald lithium project last Friday.
Rouenhoff said the project "impressively demonstrates that modern extraction of strategic raw materials is possible in Germany."
With regard to the ongoing application phase for the Critical Raw Materials Act, Rouenhoff promised that the federal government would advocate for the recognition of Zinnwald Lithium as a CRMA project.
Zinnwald said it continues to advance work streams required ahead of commencing a feasibility study and environmental and social impact assessment, alongside technical and logistical planning, to support data driven decision making and responsible project development.
Shares in Zinnwald Lithium were up 1.3% at 5.98 pence each in London on Monday.
