(Alliance News) - Yourgene Health PLC on Thursday announced that its Yourgene Genomic Services has been added to the UK government's approved Covid-19 private testing providers list for the Test to Release for International Travel scheme launched on Tuesday last week.
Shares in the molecular diagnostics firm were up 6.5% at 15.71 pence on Thursday in London.
Yourgene Genomic Services is a subsidiary of Yourgene Health and a laboratory service network.
The scheme has been designed to reduce quarantine periods for travellers arriving in the UK from overseas. Passengers can use the scheme to pay for a Covid-19 test through the list of approved providers, to find out if they can reduce their self-isolation period after travelling.
In addition, following the announcement of a new strain of SARS-CoV-2, Yourgene has started computer analysis of the mutations in the new variant to assess the reliability of its Clarigene product.
"We are extremely pleased to be an approved private provider for the Test to Release scheme to support international travel to the UK, as well as more general UK Covid-19 testing. This approval confirms the high standards and service levels we have been setting for our Covid-19 testing partners and in our wider Genomic Services laboratory offering," said Chief Executive Officer Lyn Rees.
