(Alliance News) - Xpediator PLC on Wednesday said subsidiary Import Services Ltd has signed a 20-year lease with Associated British Ports Holdings Ltd for a 200,000 square-foot distribution centre.
Import Services is a port-centric logistics and warehousing business based in Southampton.
No financial details were disclosed.
The freight management services firm said the facility at Southampton's container port will take its UK warehousing capability to around 700,000 square feet. It added that development of the new centre has commenced and is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2021.
"The new distribution centre will be just 100 meters away from where the deep sea container ships dock. With this new facility, our teams will be able to discharge containers efficiently, process orders and deliver straight to the point of demand," said Xpediator Chief Executive Stephen Blyth.
Xpediator shares were trading 7.0% higher at 26.75 pence each on Wednesday morning in London.
