Xmas Tree Systems Delivered To Hurricane Energy's Lancaster Field

20th Mar 2018 09:48

LONDON (Alliance News) - Hurricane Energy PLC said on Tuesday two horizontal 'Xmas tree' systems have been delivered to its early production system on the Lancaster field ahead of testing and installation.

A horizontal Xmas tree is a system installed onto an underwater wellhead to provide controls between the well and production facilities.

The system will be tested by Proserv UK Ltd, Hurricane said, and once this is done they will then be loaded onto the rig to be installed later in 2018 at Lancaster, located in the North Sea.

The floating production storage and offloading unit subsea control system has also been delivered, the company said, and is now being shipped to Dubai to be installed on the Aoka Mizu floating production storage and offloading unit.

Chief Executive Robert Trice said: "I'm pleased to report that the two horizontal Xmas trees and the FPSO subsea control system have now been successfully delivered. The company ordered the Xmas trees and control system in December 2016 and they were some of the key long lead items that drove the financing schedule in 2017. Their delivery represents a significant milestone in readiness for our 2018 well completion programme."

"With other operations continuing as planned, we remain on schedule for first oil in the first half of 2019," Trice added.

Hurricane shares were up 2.2% early on Tuesday at 33.28 pence each.
