Xeros Says More US Utilities Offering Polymer Bead Cleaning Incentives

10th Feb 2015 08:35

LONDON (Alliance News) - Xeros Technology Group PLC on Tuesday said a series of US utilities are now offering incentives for the energy and water savings acheived by using Xeros's polymer bead cleaning system.

Connecticut Natural Gas, Pacific Gas & Electricity Co, Questar Gas, Southwest Gas and Xcel Energy are all offering the incentives, the company said.

The incentives are part of a program to promote various energy-saving cleaning technologies which award financial incentives under the US Federal Energy Management Program's Energy Incentive Program after specific pre-determined energy savings milestones are met, Xeros said.

Since the incentive programmes were first launched in early 2014, eight utility companies are now offering them to their customers and have offered, in total, over USD275,000 in incentives for the Xeros polymer bead cleaning system, the company added.

The system uses beads made from a special stain-absorbing polymer to replace hot water in washing machine, reducing water use by up to 80%, according to Xeros, and therefore also the gas used to heat the water.

Xeros shares were up 5.0% to 182.20 pence on Tuesday morning.
