WPP Buys In Brazil Again, Acquiring Search Engine Marketing Agency

5th Sep 2014 08:40

LONDON (Alliance News) - Media buying giant WPP PLC Friday said its JWT unit has acquired a majority stake in Brazilian search engine marketing agency Mídia 123 Serviços de Publicidade Via Internet Ltda, known as Blinks, it's second acquisition in the country within two days.

Blinks made revenue of BRL11.2 million in 2013, and ended the year with gross assets of around BRL3.3 million. It employs 81 people and is based in São Paulo.

No financial details of the acquisition were disclosed.

Blinks specializes in sponsored-links campaigns and other performance media. WPP said clients are increasingly turning to search-engine marketing strategies, such as those provided by Blinks, to play a role in maximizing their Internet presence and their effective return on investment.

The acquisition comes a day after JWT acquired a majority stake in Cairos Usabilidade Eireli, known at Try, in Brazil for an undisclosed amount. Try is a user experience agency which designs and develops custom web, mobile, desktop and touch-enabled applications.

Shares in WPP were trading down 0.2% at 1,295.92 pence Friday morning.
