WPP Acquires South African Marketing And E-Commerce Company Applogix

LONDON (Alliance News) - Media buying giant WPP PLC said Monday that its majority owned South African digital agency Aqua has acquired South African marketing and e-commerce technology company Applogix Pty Ltd.

Applogix has clients including Standard Bank and Shell. It posted unaudited revenues of ZAR10.3 million for the year to end-February, with gross assets of around ZAR2.8 million as at the same date.

WPP said that the acquisition would strengthen Aqua's ability to provide clients with technical services, particularly in the mobile and e-commerce area.

No financial details of the acquisition were disclosed.

Shares in WPP were trading flat at 1,263.00 pence Monday morning.
