Workspace Mindful Of Economic Environment As Quarterly Lettings Rise

17th Jan 2019 08:27

LONDON (Alliance News) - Workspace Group PLC on Thursday reported a good third quarter performance with higher lettings and enquiries.

The FTSE 250 workspace provider said it is aware of operating in an uncertain environment but remains confident nonetheless.

For the three months to the end of December, Workspace's lettings per month rose to 98 from 86 a year ago. Enquiries averaged 907 per month compared to 858 a year ago.

Chief Executive Officer Jamie Hopkins said: "We have continued to see a great deal of activity across the whole of the business in the third quarter and enquiries held up well, despite the usual quieter December."

"We are mindful that we are operating in a very uncertain economic and political environment. Our balance sheet is strong and we are confident that we have positioned the business to continue to benefit from the structural shift in the market, where office space is increasingly becoming a strategic decision for companies."

During the quarter, Workspace completed the acquisition of the Shepherds Building, in London for GBP125 million.

Furthermore, it completed the second phase of a refurbishment programme at Vox Studios in Vauxhall, London, and gained planning consent for the refurbishment of Leroy House in Islington, London.

Workspace shares were trading up 0.6% at 887.50 pence each.
