WizzAir fined EUR500,000 by Italy's competition regulator

14th Nov 2025 10:12

(Alliance News) - The Italian Competition Authority on Friday said it has fined Wizz Air Holdings PLC company Wizz Air Hungary Ltd over the promotion of its 'Wizz All You Can Fly' service.

The competition watchdog said it has imposed a EUR500,000 antitrust fine on the budget carrier, finding that it breached the provision of the consumer code on unfair commercial practices and unfair contract terms.

Shares in Budapest-based Wizz Air Holdings fell 0.8% to 1,073.00 pence on Friday morning in London.

The regulator said its investigation was centred around WizzAir's annual 'Wizz All You Can Fly' subscription service.

It noted this service allowed subscribers to fly at a fixed fare on all international routes operated by the airline for EUR599.00, and for EUR499.00 in the initial stages of the promotion.

The Italian Competition Authority said the company failed to provide "adequate and timely information" on the limitations of the offer when promoting it.

More specifically, the regulator said that WizzAir's campaigns presented the offer as an unlimited subscription.

It added that the "unfair nature" of certain terms within the original terms and conditions has also been established.

"These allowed Wizz Air to change the terms and conditions of the service or to discontinue it altogether, without providing valid reasons or adequate safeguards for consumers," said the regulator.

The watchdog said it has ordered an excerpt of its decision be published on the budget carrier's website.
