LONDON (Alliance News) - Low-cost airline Wizz Air Holding PLC Thursday said its Vice President John Stephenson has been taken ill and hospitalised.
The company said no further information concerning Stephenson's condition will be released for privacy reasons, and said Chief Operations Officer Deiderik Pen and Chief Commercial Officer Gyorgby Abran will take over his role in the interim, reporting to Chief Executive Jozsef Varadi.
Wizz Air also said it has promoted current Chief Pilot David Morgan to become chief flight operations officer, whilst current Head of Brand & Marketing Johan Eidhagen has been appointed as the new chief marketing officer.
In its last update, Wizz Air said it carried 1.5 million passengers in December, up from 1.3 million a year earlier. For the 12 months to the end of December, its passenger traffic increased 22%, up to 19.2 million from 15.8 million. The company's load factor also improved in December, up 0.8 percentage point to 85.1% from 84.3%.
Wizz Air closed up 1.4% to 1,846.0 pence per share on Thursday.
