Wizz Air To Start Flying From Debrecen In Hungary In December

21st May 2015 10:45

LONDON (Alliance News) - Wizz Air Holdings PLC on Thursday said it will open its 22nd base in Europe in December by placing an Airbus A320 at Debrecen in Hungary.

The Central and Eastern Europe-focused budget carrier said Debrecen, which is Hungary's second largest city after Budapest, will be the second airport it operates from in Hungary and will increase the number of routes served from the airport to six. It will start operations in the city on December 16.

"Our Debrecen operating base will make east Hungary more accessible, further boost tourism and foster economic development in the region. We will create a number of local jobs with Wizz Air and our business partners while doubling our capacity from Debrecen Airport," said Chief Executive József Váradi.

Shares in Wizz Air were trading flat at 1,470.00 pence on Thursday.
