LONDON (Alliance News) - Wizz Air Holdings PLC said Friday that it has completed and signed a purchase agreement with Airbus SAS that, amongst other things, provides for the purchase of 110 A321neo aircraft.
In June the company said it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus. It said Friday that the purchase of the new aircraft would enable it to deliver on its fleet replacement and expansion plans.
At current list prices, the order for 110 A321neos is worth more than USD13.7 billion, although it said Airbus has granted significant discounts from list prices.
Wizz Air said it has an outstanding commitment to purchase a further 48 aircraft from Airbus, including 21 A320ceo aircraft and 27 A321ceo aircraft.
"We are pleased to confirm this order with Airbus to purchase 110 A321 neo aircraft. This order will help us to build on our strong market position in Central and Eastern Europe. It also provides significant flexibility to match our fleet to our growth requirements," said Chief Executive József Váradi in a statement.
Shares in Wizz Air closed up 1.3% at 1,897.00 pence Friday afternoon.
