Wizz Air Expands European Network With Opening Of Three New Bases

(Alliance News) - Wizz Air Holdings PLC on Thursday said it has opened three new bases in Germany, Romania and Russia and has expanded its existing base in Belgrade, Serbia.

The budget airline said its base in Romania will deploy two aircraft and fly 12 new routes, its new Russian base will deploy one aircraft and fly five routes, and its base in Germany will deploy three aircraft and fly 18 new routes. One additional aircraft will be deployed from its existing base in Serbia, taking the base to three aircraft and nine new routes.

"I am delighted to announce that Wizz Air is further expanding its network in Germany, Romania, Russia and Serbia. We continue take advantage of market opportunities and re-stimulate demand for low-cost travel. This expansion further contributes to the vital recovery of the economy in our markets and we remain focused on best servicing them, while protecting the health of our customers and employees," said Chief Executive Jozsef Varadi.

Wizz Air stock was trading 1.2% higher at 3,356.00 pence each on Thursday morning in London, but down 15% compared to the start of the year.
