(Alliance News) - Wizz Air Holdings PLC on Thursday reported a sharp rise in passengers carried in November compared to a year before, but this still marked a dip from October's numbers.
For the month of November, the Central and Eastern Europe-focused airline flew 2.2 million passengers, more than quadrupled from 456,487 the same month a year prior, but down 27% from 3.0 million in October.
Wizz Air's load factor improved on an annual basis to 76.1% from 68.2%. However, this was down from 79.5% in October.
Wizz Air said it has continued to expand its network during the months, with the order of 102 Airbus A231 aircraft, and the chance to acquire a further 19 A321neo aircraft.
In addition, the airline has established 13 new routes in Italy alongside the allocation of several aircraft to its Rome Fiumicino fleet.
Available seat kilometres in November also more than quadrupled to 4.62 billion from 1.02 billion a year prior, while revenue passenger kilometres surged to 3.52 billion from 740.9 million.
For the rolling 12 months to November 30, passenger numbers increased 2.2% to 19.8 million from 19.3 million a year prior, while capacity increased 7.1% year-on-year to 26.6 million. However, load factor slipped to 74.3% from 77.9%.
Shares in Wizz Air were up 1.8% at 4,297.00 pence on Thursday in London.
