(Alliance News) - Wizz Air Holdings PLC on Wednesday said it has bought 15 daily slot pairs at Gatwick Airport from fellow low-cost carrier Norwegian Air Shuttle, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal means that the Budapest-based low-cost airline will base four additional aircraft at Gatwick, raising the total aircraft based at the airport to five, starting from Spring 2022.
"Acquiring airport slots at Gatwick Airport will enable us to enhance our presence and competitive position in the London market. We continue to develop our business in United Kingdom and remain committed to making air travel affordable for all. The 2022 season has the potential to be a tremendous opportunity for UK aviation to get back on its feet," said Chief Executive Officer Jozsef Varadi.
Shares in Wizz Air were down 0.5% at 4,209.00 pence on Wednesday in London.
