Windar Receives Order From Indian National Institute Of Wind Energy

29th Dec 2016 08:36

LONDON (Alliance News) - Windar Photonics PLC on Thursday said it has received an order for its multi-beam LiDAR system from the Indian National Institute of Wind Energy for immediate delivery.

Wind sensor technology group Windar said the LiDAR or Light Detection And Ranging systems are intended for installation during the first quarter of 2017 on a wind turbine which has been produced by an unnamed Indian original equipment manufacturer. The system will be used for turbine optimisation.

The integration of LiDAR systems allows wind turbines to yaw and pitch according to the oncoming wind, which can increase the annually generated power as much as 4.0%, Windar claims.

The Indian National Institute of Wind Energy is a research institute under the Indian Government's Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and also serves as a certification body for wind turbine technology in the Indian market.

"The order from the Indian National Institute of Wind Energy is another positive development for Windar Photonics in the Indian market, as NIWE is a well-respected institution within the Indian wind energy industry. The expected verification by the Indian National Institute of Wind Energy of our LiDAR systems is an important step forward, supporting our future business in India," said Interim CEO Jorgen Korsgaard Jensen.

Shares in Windar were untraded on Thursday, having last traded at 75.70 pence.
