Wincanton Performs In Line In First Half As Wins And Renews Contracts

3rd Oct 2019 09:25

(Alliance News) - Wincanton PLC on Thursday said it secured contracts in the six months to the end of September that it expects to drive its earnings growth for the full financial year.

The logistics company said it continues to expect its results for the year to the end of March 2020 to be in line with market expectations as it has secured "good levels" of new business in the first half. These include a five-year deal with Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC for the provision of transport and vehicle maintenance services and a number of contracts with existing customers that have been renewed, including adidas, Williams Sonoma and Cormar Carpets.

Wincanton disposed of two freehold properties during the half year for gross proceeds of GBP5.5 million, it said, resulting in an exceptional profit of GBP2.0 million, which will be reported in the first half, in relation to the sale of these properties.

The company said it will announce its interim results on November 13.

Wincanton shares were trading 0.5% higher in London on Thursday at 225.20 pence each.
