Westminster Group Wins Caribbean Government Contract

25th Mar 2014 11:07

LONDON (Alliance News) - Westminster Group PLC Tuesday said it had won a contract to undertake an extensive security consultancy project for a Caribbean government.

Westminster didn't name the government, but said in a statement that the work involves reviewing and assessing the country's K9 law enforcement operations, including police, customs, prisons and its army.

The contract will involve a needs evaluation for each agency, including a full training needs evaluation, a review of each unit's K9 standards, and a review of standard operating procedures and current deployment practices, Westminster said.

The British company will also assess kennelling facilities, undertake a veterinary assessment of each dog, a feasibility study for a national training centre and national breeding program, as well as preparing a strategic development plan.

The contract news comes a day after the provider of security, defence, fire protection and safety systems and services said it had raised GBP300,000 by issuing shares to a new strategic investor, and had also raised gross proceeds of GBP150,150 by drawing down on its equity financing facility with Darwin Strategic Ltd. It didn't name the new investor, but said it is active in some of Westminster's target markets and should help the company win new work in the future.

Westminster Group Chief Executive Peter Fowler said the negotiations to secure the Caribbean government deal took several months, but could lead to further work for the company. Its technology and managed services divisions are also now in talks about more extensive services, Fowler said, adding that the UK government had been very supportive during the process.

Westminster Group shares were up 1.4% at 73.00 pence Tuesday morning.
