LONDON (Alliance News) - Westminster Group PLC Tuesday said it has won a contract to undertake a pilot pipeline security project for a government-owned petrochemicals company in the Americas.
The petrochemicals firm, which Westminster did not name, has more than 20,000 kilometres of unprotected pipeline in the Americas and has been in talks with Westminster for several months over improving the security of its pipeline network, the specialist security group said.
The project will use the Westminster Acoustic Fibre Optic Pipeline Security System to monitor a 20 kilometre section of pipeline.
"Westminster is currently in discussions with various petrochemical companies and pipeline operators for the protection of a number of pipelines in a number of continents and this pilot project for a major petrochemical company in the Americas is important both in terms of client and location," said Peter Fowler, Chief Executive of Westminster.
Westminster shares were down 0.1% to 42.1 pence on Tuesday.
