Westminster Group Deploys Fever Detection Kit To West Africa Airport

8th Aug 2014 11:54

LONDON (Alliance News) - Westminster Group PLC Friday said it has deployed advanced fever detection screening equipment, which identifies people who may be suffering from Ebola, common influenza, SARS and other flu variants, to its airport operation in West Africa to help officials monitor passengers entering the airport and to prevent any infected person from travelling.

In a statement, Westminster, which supplies products and services to security, defence, fire protection and safety markets, said that it is helping officials in accordance with World Health Organisation requirements.

"Westminster has still not as yet seen any adverse impact on passenger traffic due to the Ebola outbreak and the first full week of August has seen traffic numbers 22.3% up on the same period last year and 8.9% year to date on the same period last year," the group said in a statement.

The news comes following the WHO's declaration that the Ebola outbreak in West Africa is an international health emergency. It called for global action to stop the virus from spreading further.

Earlier this week, Westminster Group said it had not seen any adverse impact on passenger traffic related to the outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa, though it warned it may face some short-term impact from British Airways' decision to temporarily suspend flights to the region.

Westminster Group shares were Friday quoted up 9.7% at 44.99 pence.
