LONDON (Alliance News) - Westminster Group PLC Friday said that one of the prop shafts on the Sierra Queen, the flagship vessel for its new ferry project in Sierra Leone in West Africa, has been removed and returned to the UK for repair after the company discovered that it was out of line.
Westminster, which supplies managed services and technology-based security solutions to governments and non-governmental organisations, said that the repair job is expected to take around 15 days and that operations are now expected to commence in September.
"Whilst we are disappointed that this issue means our expected commencement of operations has slipped into September, as previously stated, safety and reliability are our primary concerns, and it is preferable to identify and correct any such problems prior to commencement rather than disrupt services later," Chief Executive Peter Fowler said in a statement.
"In parallel, we continue to work with the government on the development and upgrading of various terminals and jetties not just for the airport transfer service but also to accommodate a fast water taxi service around the capital and further afield," he added.
