LONDON (Alliance News) - Westminster Group PLC on Tuesday said its flagship ferry in West Africa is on the slipway and works to replace the shaft have commenced after it had to be sent to the UK for repairs.
Further updates regarding ticketing and operations will be announced in due course, the company said.
Westminster Group had previously said in October that the vessel was booked to depart on or around November 9.
Westminster Group added that as the ebola crisis in West Africa improves, it looks forward to a continued recovery in airline passenger numbers, which are already showing a positive trend.
"We are encouraged by existing airlines increasing services and new airlines looking to commence services. This bodes well for both our existing airport operations which continue to increase contribution as well as our new ferry service," Chief Executive Peter Fowler said in a statement.
The group also noted that following the downing of the Russian jet over Egypt last month and terrorist attack in Paris last Friday, the need for more effective security services such as those offered by Westminster Group has become apparent.
"On a broader front the recent tragic events in Egypt and France highlight the need for more effective security solutions such as Westminster provides worldwide and, in that respect, improved airport security is now a key agenda item for many governments," Fowler said, adding that a number of its managed services airport contract discussions continue to progress.
Westminster Group provides security services to governments, non-governmental organisations and blue-chip commercial organisations worldwide.
Shares in Westminster Group were trading up 7.2% at 20.09 pence Tuesday morning.
