LONDON (Alliance News) - Watkin Jones PLC on Thursday said it has received planning consent for its student accommodation development in Hunter Street, Chester in Cheshire.
The developer of student accommodation said the planning consent enables it to progress with its development of the land which is currently being used as a car park. The site will be developed into a 77-bed student accommodation property, with the gross development value of the scheme expected to be around GBP6.5 million.
Completion of the development is expected in the summer of 2017, and adds to the 330 student beds already being developed in Chester by Watkin Jones which are expected in the summer of 2017.
"This development when completed, will service students at the University of Chester and the University of Law and we are pleased to have added the Hunter Street site to our already impressive portfolio in Chester," said Chief Executive Mark Watkin Jones.
"The look and appearance of the development will be modern however we will ensure the selected materials will be reflective of the overall character and appearance of the area. The demand for student accommodation is growing and this latest scheme adds further validation to our business model," Watkin Jones added.
