(Alliance News) - WANdisco PLC on Wednesday said it has won a contract with an unnamed "top five Canadian bank" worth USD1.1 million over three years.
The Sheffield-based data-management software company said that the customer will use WANdisco's LiveData Migrator to migrate its Hadoop workloads from an on-premise Cloudera cluster to the Google Cloud Platform.
The initial migration will be of 5 petabytes of data with room for future expansion, it added.
WANdsico said that its "unique LDM technology is the only solution capable of moving its on-premise data to the cloud within the GCP ecosystem effectively." It also generates minimal business disruption, data consistency and security during the process, the company added.
This is WANdisco's first Google Cloud win in North America and another contract win in the global financial services market. WANdisco said that this confirms the "significant opportunity" for the company in this key growth market.
Chief Executive & Chair David Richards said: "We are seeing a robust pipeline of deals for LiveData Migrator on all cloud platforms. LiveData Migrator's zero business downtime capabilities for moving transactional data, combined with its easy to deploy and easy to use interface means clients across several verticals are interested in our products as businesses attempt to stay competitive and agile."
Shares in WANdisco were up 0.2% to 297.50 pence each in London on Wednesday arounnd midday.
